Recent months have been a blur of activity in my household. In February I married the love of my life, who just happens to be my best friend. {I am the luckiest girl.} I moved from Augusta, Georgia to San Antonio, Texas. Augusta seems like a small, sleepy town compared to the 7th largest city in the United States. But, I exaggerate! Gradually, I am adjusting to the Texas culture and learning my way around the city. Growing up in a military family, I moved and transitioned often, preparing me for the day when I would move away and need to be a little more self-reliant.
As I get used to a new city and life, God is teaching me about patience and hard work. I am reminded: making new friends will take considerable effort, as will developing business in a second major location. While I don’t have many new friends yet, the plus is that my husband and I are growing closer. Wherever we go, we go together.
The transitions on a business level are incredibly exciting. First, an announcement! Holly Birdsong Photography is now a team! John, my husband, now works both as a main photographer and a vital back-up photographer. For weddings, as I photograph the bride and bridesmaids, my co-photographer captures the groom & his groomsmen. He brings tremendous talent to event photography: a creative eye, thoughtful execution, and a calming presence. This last point is the most helpful with nervous brides, or brides’ mamas. I should also mention, he carries my 50# bag of equipment. Very nice!
So, you might ask, if I live in Texas now, am I still working in Georgia? I am thrilled to say, YES! As much as I would love to add more Texas weddings to my schedule, I am so well connected in Georgia that I will continue to travel to be available in both locations. I booked several weddings in Georgia and the southeast for the next quarter, and this is awesome.
Several friends inquired, “How’s business treating you?” The wonderful news is God blessed my business tremendously in the last year! My bookings went up 250% in a difficult, struggling economy. I had to invest in more equipment, and market more than ever before, but, thankfully, the interest is there. This proves that people will continue to fall in love and they want to preserve that moment with beautiful photography.
If you have an event, portrait session, or wedding, just let me know! I would love to be your photographer. Wait, I mean, “We would love to be your photographer!” We will gladly travel to your preferred destination.
It is an honor to share time with you and your loved ones during special moments. Being photographed is not easy for everyone. We will strive to make it enjoyable and natural. Keep a lookout for the summer specials for seniors & families debuting next week!
